The purpose of this course is to give the practical training for biomedical research students in Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan and Indonesia. This course consists of two separate courses: (1) Bioinformatics lecture course and (2) Laboratory training course for diagnosing bacterial pathogenic species. The course will be conducted in English.
(1) Bioinformatics Course: Practical training course for biomedical research scientists
· Dates: January 15 - 17, 2018 (9AM – 5PM).
· Class size: 20 participants.
· Fee (for Reagents and Supply): 400,000 VND (Vietnam Dong four hundred thousand).
* Fee is waived for Vietnam students with full-time undergraduate or graduate student status. You must submit a copy of your current transcript from your institute along with your application to be eligible for fee waiver.
· Description: Students will learn how to use genomics databases and bioinformatics tools through hands-on experiences of 2nd-generation sequencing data analysis. This course also provides introduction to Linux shell scripting for constructing semi-automated data processing workflow.
(2) Workshop on Infection Diagnosis: Current trends in antimicrobial resistance and methods to detect multidrug-resistant bacteria
· Dates: January 15 – 19, 2018 (9AM – 5PM).
· Class size: 24 participants.
· Fee (for Reagents and Supply): 700,000 VND (Vietnam Dong seven hundred thousand).
* Fee is waived for Vietnam students with full-time undergraduate or graduate student status. You must submit a copy of your current transcript from your institute along with your application to be eligible for fee waiver.
· Description: Students will approach the emerging topic of infection “Current trends in antimicrobial resistance” and will learn the methods to detect multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB). Throughout the workshop participants will have the opportunities to share and discuss the experiences in the field and solutions to treat MDRB.
o Application Deadline: December 20, 2017.
o Qualified applicants will be notified on or before December 29, 2017.
o Lunch will not be provided. You may purchase at canteen at Biotechnology Center HCMC or bring your own.
