Major scientific goal of the IRTG is to elucidate plant defense mechanisms and pathogen virulence strategies that are operational in different cellular and extracellular compartments and at different spatial scales. The IRTG offers an excellent experimental infrastructure in an international and interdisciplinary research environment. The broad-based PhD training program will enable the PhD candidates to address questions in plant-pathogen interactions at a system-wide level and offers many opportunities for the improvement of scientific and personal skills.
